In-Kind Donations For Staten Islanders Needed: Central Family Life Center Providing Critical Aid This Year For Local Families

The following questions were answered by the organization (questions in bold, answers in italic):

What are the in-kind donations you are looking for, and how can people get them to you if they want to participate?
Each year, CFLC provides critical resources and holiday support to local families who are facing financial challenges. This season, we are collecting toys, gift cards, new winter clothing, nonperishable food items, and household essentials to ensure families in need can experience comfort and joy. This is especially important with pending SNAP reductions and our goal is to offset the impact to community members.
Do you have families that you already work with (on the receiving end of the toys and gifts) or can families sign up to participate?
We work directly with hundreds of families through our programs — including afterschool youth initiatives, family therapy, mentorship, senior engagement, and violence prevention — and will also promote our holiday drive to reach additional families who may not yet be connected to CFLC.
Is there a giveaway event you host, and if so, do you have photos or videos from previous events you can share with us?
CFLC regularly hosts family-centered gatherings and would gladly plan one in partnership with your paper. You can find photos and videos from past events, as well as more about our programs, on our social media pages:

Can people who are experiencing hardship in the area contact you by phone?
Certainly, my desk, cell phone or email [below] works fine for me.
Respectfully,
Ms. Monique Thomas, Programming Manager

As the holiday season approaches, many Staten Island families are struggling with the realities of rising costs, underemployment, and daily financial challenges. At the Central Family Life Center (CFLC), we believe no one should have to face these hardships alone — and with your help, they won’t have to.

For decades, CFLC has been a lifeline for our community — a place where children, families, and seniors find hope, healing, and opportunity. Guided by our mission, we work every day to uplift individuals from all walks of life by providing essential programs and resources that promote overall well-being and empower lasting change.

Each year, CFLC touches the lives of more than 1,150 Staten Islanders through a wide range of programs, including:

☑ After School Program – Helping youth thrive academically and socially
☑ ATLAS – Strengthening families through Functional Family Therapy
☑ True 2 Life – Preventing violence, saving lives, and offering mentorship for high-risk youth
☑ VOCA – Supporting and advocating for victims of crime
☑ Prince to Kings – Mentoring young men to lead with purpose and confidence
☑ EmpowerHer – Encouraging young women to embrace their strength and potential
☑ CFLC Senior Program – Promoting wellness and social connection for older adults
☑ NSTAT – Empowering residents to advocate for safer, stronger neighborhoods

This holiday season, we invite you to stand with CFLC and make a difference. Your generosity can provide a Thanksgiving meal for a struggling family or a toy that brings joy to a child. Every gift — no matter the size — helps us bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.

Together, we can continue building a stronger, more compassionate Staten Island.
