Several governors announced plans to lift statewide mask requirements in schools by the end of February or March, citing the rapid easing of COVID-19′s omicron surge.

The decisions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey and Oregon were announced as state and local governments grapple with which virus restrictions to jettison and which ones to keep in place, the AP reports.

The U.S.’s death toll from the coronavirus crossed 900,000 on Friday, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.

Pfizer registered $36.8 billion of sales in 2021 from the COVID-19 vaccine it makes with BioNTech. The vaccine is now officially the top-selling pharmaceutical product ever in a single year, by a huge margin.

One in three Americans expects to catch COVID within the next month — and only one in 10 thinks it will be eradicated by this time next year — according to the latest installment of the Axios/Ipsos Coronavirus Index.
