AOC Addresses Question About Conditions At Rikers Island Jail Complex

At a town hall meeting on Tuesday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addressed a question posed by the Staten Islander News Organization regarding the conditions she witnessed at the Rikers Island jail complex tour that she was taken on back in September of 2021.

Specifically, we asked, “Can you elaborate on what you saw at the Rikers jail in September, and how common such conditions were among the population during your visit?”

We previously wrote about the conditions at the jail, as well as some background and additional info on prisoners who were not ever convicted, but had to wait years for their trials to be dismissed.
