Brittany Ramos DeBarros Endorsed By Working Families Party In Bid For US House Seat, District 11

The following is a statement from Brittany Ramos DeBarros regarding her endorsement by the Working Families Party of New York, for the US House of Representatives, Distric 11.

This morning, we were endorsed by the Working Families Party! We’re not just flipping NY-11 Democrat Blue, we’re also flipping it Worker Orange! 🔥🦺

Working-class people are the backbone of our district, our city, and our country but the truth is, we’re not fully represented by the two mainstream parties. The vast majority of Congress are still multi-millionaires who prioritize profit and political power over our people and the planet.

The WFP has been doing groundbreaking political work to change that for decades and I’m proud to be a member of a party that works so hard to center working people in everything we fight for, from Medicare for All to transformative criminal justice reform to equitable public schools.

We’re building a future in which our laws, institutions, and policies are not driven by the wealthy 1% but rather the most impacted communities. With WFP’s support, we’re one step closer to a future we truly can be proud of.

I’m a proud Afro-Latina Staten Islander, a community organizer, and an Army combat veteran running to fight for NY-11 in Congress. I moved to Staten Island with my husband when I returned from war and immediately fell in love with this beautiful, quirky, and diverse island. It is the only home that we have known in our adult lives. I’m running for Congress because at every turn of my life, I’ve seen broken promises from leaders and systems that fail my communities.
