Rep. AOC Announces Info Session For Hurricane Preparation, Recovery
Info Session: Recovering from Ida & preparing for future hurricanes
On Saturday, September 17, at 1 PM, there will be an information session for constituents still working to recover from Hurricane Ida and for constituents who want to learn more about preventing flooding from future hurricanes. It will take place at Sunnyside Community Services, 43-31 39th Street, Queens, NY 11104.
Councilmember Julie Won will speak, along with representatives from FEMA, Red Cross and other city and federal agencies. A member of our constituent services team will also be on hand to answer any casework-related questions.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows FEMA’s response fell short of what constituents needed. We have been in continuous conversations with FEMA and other agencies to improve future disaster responses. In response, FEMA has recently amended their Individual Assistance Program and those changes are applicable to constituents who suffered damage under Hurricane Ida. More information is available here.
If you’re not able to attend, our office has prepared a list of resources to prepare for future hurricanes. And our staff is also available to look into your application for assistance from FEMA. We can be reached online or at 718-662-5970.
