Rep. Nicole Malliotakis Echoes President Trump’s Calls For Change Of Venue To Staten Island – Case Is So Political, Cannot Get A Fair Trial In Manhattan

Share

President Trump took to Truth Social to state that having a jury trial in Manhattan would be unfair, given the political nature of the process, including his intention to run for president once more in 2024. Protests in Manhattan, both for and against his arrest, took place during the arraignment of President Trump this afternoon.

Many people seemed to think that President Trump would be brought into criminal court in handcuffs, with a dramatic show. But, this didn’t happen. President Trump wasn’t a flight risk; he didn’t run away from the case against him. He came to Manhattan criminal court in person, with his attorneys present, and was arraigned on the 34 felony counts in the indictment.

He pled not-guilty of course, and the complaints are related to an alleged affair he had with an adult film star prior to running for president, in 2006, which was not a rape but an extramarital affair. You can learn more about the timeline, charges, and arraignment here.

Here is the statement on Truth Social from President Trump:

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis weighed in on her Facebook page, in response to the statement by President Trump, to state, “How can President Trump have a fair trial with a rogue DA, a left wing judge & a jury of his peers in a borough where less than 15% support him. The venue should be changed to #StatenIsland. Democrats still outnumber Republicans but at least it’s more balanced.”

Representative Malliotakis also made the following statement about the entire process and how it has been unfolding in recent weeks:

“Our city is less safe because rogue District Attorney Alvin Bragg has made a career of not prosecuting dangerous criminals and now he is abusing his prosecutorial power to politically target the former President based on a shoddy, far-fetched legal argument all while violent criminals with lengthy rap sheets go free.

The Department of Justice, the Federal Election Commission, and Bragg’s predecessor Cy Vance all looked into this case and declined to prosecute. Bragg’s bare-bones indictment is reckless, further erodes the people’s trust in our government and is another example of Democrats weaponizing our justice system.

This is the same political party that attempted to pack our Supreme Court, radically change our election laws, end the Senate filibuster, grant non-citizens the right to vote and grossly gerrymander districts like mine. We stopped their blatant power grabs then and will fight tooth and nail to prevent them from abusing justice now. I’ve previously called for Governor Hochul to remove Bragg from office over his failure to do his job and keep New Yorkers safe. I renew those calls today and believe Congress should investigate the inappropriate use of federal funds to conduct this political witch hunt.”

Nah, liberal Manhattanites won’t be biased against Trump.

I mean, I just saw someone having a rage-stroke on TV. Or, what looked like it.

People, grow up. These are just politicians. Don’t cry or laugh like a maniac. He’s no one you know.

I shed sheer tears of joy. I hate trump the chump because he represented everything wrong with this country. What would be ironic is if they move it and ppl like me get on the jury and he gets found guilty anyway. SI isn’t as 10% conservative as you think,

Oh, please. Get a frikkin life.

Trump is a has-been. This is just distraction.

        The dollar go bye-bye now.

But we all too busy watching Trump.

        I have a feeling you meant 100%.

        Also, sentences conclude with commas…never.

As for your premise that “Trump is everything wrong with this country…” I just have to say that’s lazy thinking.

Our issues are part and parcel of our history. Trump can’t be blamed for why the world is as it is.

The only way you’d make it to a jury is by lying. You couldn’t possibly be fair.

        I am 10% conservative.

I think that makes me a liberal, Sally.

        I mean, bathwater, baby?

Why not keep what’s good from society’s past?

Tears of joy? That doesn’t even make sense.

Trump was a mediocre president. He didn’t do all that much, for good or for bad. Trying to make a villain out of a lackluster politician is insane.

I voted for him. I don’t regret it. I did learn that entering politics makes someone a politician. Lesson learned.

Trump didn’t invent racism. There are many black people out there on social media who support Trump even still. I am Latino. Everyone I know who is from my background either supported Trump or still does.

You are not realistic. That is your problem. You need a scapegoat. That kind of thinking led to the Holocaust. If Obama got arrested I wouldn’t cheer. He was still president of ours and it makes us all look shameful.

And, I do say this. This news has an article about name calling a while back. I agreed on that point. Trump did encourage that trend again. That was not good. So saying “Trump the chump” you are actually following the one really bad habit the president brought us. That is really strange, come to think of it.

Yeah, he is just a man. And without a doubt he sins like anyone else. Don’t name call. It is a bad look. You seem like such a nice person otherwise. Let justice be served. If he is guilty so be it.

    What does that even mean?

    I am 10% liberal. lol

I mean, that still makes me kinda far to the right.

I’m probably more like 20% liberal.

10% conservative is good, for ppl like u

I turned the TV off days ago.

FOX wasn’t being fair and seemed almost anti-Trump.

    What’s new with this?
