New Yorkers Enjoy 20 Miles of Car-Free Streets and Programming Over Five Saturdays This Summer. First weekend in Manhattan started this past Saturday, August 5th .

Builds on Mayor Adams’ Expansion of Summer Streets Into East Harlem Last Year and Ongoing Efforts to Equitably Provide Vibrant Public Spaces Across New York City

NEW YORK – New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez will celebrate Summer Streets on Saturday, August 5, with visits to six rest stop locations tomorrow spanning the borough. This is the first year Summer Streets will expand to 125th street in Harlem.

For the 15th iteration of Summer Streets, NYC DOT is expanding the popular program, which opens select streets for people to play, walk, and bike, to all five boroughs and north in Manhattan to 125th Street. The expanded Summer Streets will span five consecutive Saturdays between July and August and is now doubled in size to feature 20 miles of car-free streets.
