Girl Scouts Membership Drive – Seeking New Troop Leaders, Members
Back to school means it’s time for the Girl Scouts’ annual fall recruitment campaign.
Editor’s note: Earlier this year, we reported on the Girl Scouts’ cookie drive, which this year offered a new option to buy cookies for donation to local food pantries, extending the meaning of community and charity for girls in the groups. We also covered the Star 99.1 Daddy Daughter Dance, which many Girl Scouts troops host as the Princess and her FROG events.
Studies show Girl Scouts is a fantastic way to boost self-confidence in young girls and they are looking for new troop leaders and members.
Back to School, Back to Girl Scouts in Staten Island!
Girl Scouts of Greater New York launches fall recruitment campaign, inviting Staten Island girls to become scouts and adults to start a new troop in their community
Studies show that being a Girl Scout boosts girls’ self-confidence at critical ages
New York, N.Y.) — Girl Scouts of Greater New York is excited to kick off a new season of exploration, learning, and fun with the launch of fall recruitment. As the new school year begins, Staten Island girls from kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to join a troop or become an independent Girl Scout, and adults are encouraged to volunteer, whether that’s starting a troop in their community or getting involved in shorter-term volunteer opportunities.
Girl Scouts of Greater New York have 102 troops across Staten Island. In the past year, the organization provided opportunities for girls throughout the borough to engage in a wide range of activities – building robots, camping, planting trees in their community, making movies, selling cookies to build entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills, and much more.
“Girl Scouts offers endless possibilities for growth and adventure for girls as well as volunteers,” said Karen Lundgard, Chief Operations Officer of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York. “The back-to-school season is the perfect time for girls to become part of our community of friendship, fun, and adventure, and for caring adults to make a difference as volunteers, empowering our girls to be their most authentic selves.”
