Boroughwide Talent Is Timeless Competitions For Brooklyn, Staten Island At BAM: Older Adults Compete With Dance, Musical Acts To Grand Finale

Editor’s note: Senator Gillibrand recently introduced critical legislation which will allow the elderly facing health complications to age at home. The senator is also attempting to boost social security benefits to keep pace with rising healthcare costs.

Of note for Staten Islanders, Lloyd Lerner and Joyce Gordon made it to the finale with their rendition of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”.

“The Talent is Timeless competition is showing New York that older adults have as much, if not more, to offer our communities as anyone else,” said NYC Aging Commissioner Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez. “The talent we witnessed during the Brooklyn and Staten Island joint boroughwide show, brought joy to many and helped us fight ageist stereotypes that block opportunities in the entertainment industry and beyond. I can’t wait to see them all at the grand finale!”

Tuesday, September 17 the Boroughwide Talent is Timeless competitions for Brooklyn and Staten Island took place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) beginning at 321 Ashland Place, Brooklyn NY 11217.

Older adults from each borough performed their comedy, dance and musical acts in hopes to make it to the grand finale!

The acts have already made it through two rounds at older adult centers at each borough. At the competition, their friends from centers were also there to cheer them on.
