Limitless Monday – Leave Your Bad Attitude At Home
Limitless Monday – Leave your bad attitude at home
How often have you allowed personal issues to bleed into your outside life?
How many times have you been treated badly as you go about your day?
Perhaps on your way to work a fellow driver gave you the finger. Maybe you bought a $7 latte, and the barista had the audacity to serve you with a frown.
I bought groceries recently, and the cashier upended my shopping basket onto the conveyor belt sending all my produce flying in different directions.
This weekend, I was greeted by a bad tempered receptionist at a Quality Inn as if I was a nuisance. Bad attitudes are all around us!
The problem isn’t solely caused by personal issues at home. Often, the perpetrator is unhappy in their job. They don’t want to be there.
The overweight, scruff man working at the post office counter who barely makes an effort to look up shouldn’t be working there. If he can’t make that decision himself then his boss should. If you are that person, then you must make that hard decision. It will do you good. You are clearly unhappy. If, however, it’s not the job that is the cause of your bad attitude, then work out what the hell is causing you to be rude to simple folk who want to get through their day with minimal friction, and make a change.
No one cares about your problems apart from your closest and dearest. It’s your responsibility and your problem. If you can’t resolve the issue then you deserve to be unceremoniously fired and kicked out onto the street to join the ranks of the unemployable.
There is another side to the bad attitude equation. How you react when you are on the receiving end of someone’s unsociable behavior. If you are not able to control your temper when given the finger then you deserve the unpleasant repercussions. They are easily avoided. Don’t react.
A person with a bad attitude at work rarely progresses far in their career. The employee who is helpful, friendly, but assertive has a bright future. What amazes me is that people with a bad attitude can’t fathom why their lives didn’t amount to much.
Leave your bad attitude at home, or even better, work out a strategy to change it. A bad attitude is like a black cloud hanging over your head. Bring sunshine into your life, and drop the negativity. You will find that rather than people avoiding you and returning the bad attitude, they will warm to you. If you prefer to be a walking dark cloud, then trust karma to intervene and ensure your life is a shadow of what it could be. Today, bring sunshine with a smile, a joke, a laugh, or a dance.
Happy Monday!
