Staten Island Girl Scouts Top Cookie Sellers Gearing Up To Reach High Goal This Season As Well

Two Staten Island Girl Scouts, Elizabeth and Antonella, tied for first place in cookie boxes sold last season, and they are hoping to exceed their goal once again this year.  The girls talk about the importance of going door-to-door, and how they like to learn about their neighbors and hear their stories.  They have excellent advice for how to sell so many cookies, and you could even use the euphemism from Nike: Just do it!  In other words, overcome your shyness, take every opportunity to sell cookies, and persevere no matter what the challenges are.

Staten Islander also published the announcement of Girl Scouts Cookie season last year, along with their membership drive and seeking new troop leaders

Information Regarding Cookie Season

Over the course of cookie season, Girl Scouts will collect orders for cookies from their networks through their online Digital Cookie storefronts, where customers can purchase cookies for immediate shipping. Customers can visit https://www.girlscoutsnyc.org/findcookies to find local troops to support.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the world. It helps girls develop five essential skills that set them up for success: goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills.

For those who want to support Girl Scouts and also give back, boxes can be donated to service organizations to those in need through the Gift of Caring program. This year, all donated cookies will be distributed to Operation Gratitude. If people are interested, they can purchase cookies online and select the option at checkout.

Girl Scouts of Greater New York is New York City’s oldest and largest girls’ leadership organization, reaching tens of thousands of girls from the five boroughs. Through Girl Scouts, girls explore STEM, business and entrepreneurship, advocacy, environmental leadership, outdoor adventure, and so much more.

Regarding environmental leadership and outdoor adventure, sales from cookies often help troops do field trips to Camp Kaufmann. Located miles north of the city in Dutchess County, the 425-acre camp features a lake, pool, archery range, hiking trails, butterfly garden, greenhouse, ropes course, zipline, and so much more. It is open year-round and seasonal programs include day trips, weekend overnights, and longer sleepaway stays.

Cookies are $7.00 a box this year and people can purchase directly from Elizabeth and Antonella at the following links:

STATEN ISLAND, NY (January 15, 2025) — Girl Scout Cookie Season is officially underway on Staten Island. Over the course of cookie season, Girl Scouts will collect orders for cookies from their network through their online Digital Cookie storefronts, where customers can purchase cookies for immediate shipping.

Customers can visit https://www.girlscoutsnyc.org/findcookies to find local troops to support.

For those who prefer to pick out their Girl Scout Cookies in person, Girl Scouts across the city will host their in-person booth sales beginning at the end of February.

All proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program in the city remain within the five boroughs to help fund the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, with a portion of each sale going directly to the troop to support their activities and empower those involved in the program to make the most of their Girl Scout experience.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the world. It helps girls develop five essential skills that set them up for success: goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills. “Girl Scout Cookie Season is more than just selling cookies—it’s an opportunity for girls from across New York City to develop essential skills in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and leadership,” said Karen Lundgard, Interim CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater New York.

“I’m consistently inspired by the creativity, determination, and confidence that our Girl Scouts display as they set ambitious goals and achieve them. They truly embody the spirit of what it means to be a Girl Scout.”

Proceeds from the sale of cookies will also go towards supporting Troop 6000, which launched in 2017 as a first-of-its-kind program to serve families living in temporary housing in the New York City shelter system, as well as asylum seekers in New York City. Girls in Troop 6000 have their own digital cookie sale website, as well as in-person booth sales throughout March and April.

More information about Troop 6000 is available at https://www.girlscoutsnyc.org/troop6000.

For those who want to support Girl Scouts and also give back, boxes can be donated to service organizations to bring joy to those in need through the Gift of Caring program.

This year, all donated cookies will be distributed to Operation Gratitude (Note: this group provides boxes of cookies to military members stationed all over the world).

If people are interested in this, they can purchase cookies online and select the option at checkout.

Each year, Girl Scouts of Greater New York also honors the top cookie seller in each borough from the year before.

Sisters Elizabeth V., 11, and Antonella V., 8, tied for the title of Staten Island’s top cookie sellers, with each selling an impressive 1,286 boxes in 2024.

“Cookie season is my favorite time of year because it’s a chance to challenge myself and grow. From setting big goals to celebrating small wins, I’ve learned the power of determination and positivity. Being a Girl Scout cookie seller is about more than cookies—it’s about building skills for life,” said Elizabeth. “Being a top cookie seller means staying motivated, working hard, and having fun along the way! I’ve learned how to set goals, talk to new people, and stay confident—even when it’s challenging,” said Antonella.

Additionally, Girl Scouts who sell more than 500 boxes of cookies qualify to become members of Girl Scouts of Greater New York’s Cookie Executive Committee.

“Cookie Executives” are invited to participate in regular professional development workshops, inform and plan the Girl Scout Cookie Program in New York City, choose incentives girls can earn, and more.
