Editor’s note: We have previously covered New York Fashion Week events where protests were held by PETA to bring attention to the suffering of the animals that are used in many of the fashions modeled there. We will be reviewing Beyond the Gaze in the coming week, which describes the evolution of the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated print magazine.
It is without question that Jesse Resurreccion has taken major strides in the short time she has been in the fashion / modeling scene. But to realize her potential is to see how she has arrived at this level. Coming from humble beginnings where she had to take what she could get, she never forgot where she came from. Jesse was first immersed in the sport of tennis before even taking on a runway. She mastered the sport, which earned her an Athletic Scholarship for Division One Tennis. Jesse would then attend St. Peter’s University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in marketing management.
From there she would take the skills she learned to another level. Her leadership skills and attention to detail earned her a position as treasurer for the John T. Coughlin History Club. This became a steppingstone to her fashion journey when she became a fashion coordinator for F.A.M.E. and the president of the Business Law Association and as a member of the Goldman Sachs Local College Collaborative (LCC). It is important to note that Jesse was inspired by her aunt who was involved in film and pageantry. When it came to outside inspirations for Jesse, they were celebs like Heidi Klum and Adrianna Lima. It is good to note that Jesse never let go of her tennis as she was ranked a member of the United States Tennis Association.
Jesse would soon take a dive into modeling when she showcased high-end watches for companies Redo and Hamilton for the Luxury Jewelry Campaign for Diamond Hut Jewelers. In 2024 she took the runway at the ATFH Fashion House Runways and the Unknown Origin Life Runway. These would open the door to her roll out year of 2025. During this year’s Fashion Week, Jesse took Top Model honors which was a major step up from the year before.
“It was a pleasure to compete in this modeling competition, as it was a catalyst for future upcoming projects. I love modeling competitions, as they delve into one’s relationship with oneself and how one carries oneself in the industry. I fully believe that the body we are born in is enough to accomplish all we dream of. It’s important to be a trailblazer for not only yourself, but other individuals to see that a path to our dreams is possible regardless of your background or how you look. As a petite model winning Miss New York Fashion Week 2025, I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to present my confidence to say that all beauty is created equal. We are all endowed with the right to self-reflect and cherish our innermost beliefs on the outside, to have both joy and comfort in who we are.”
One of the biggest highlights of 2025 for Jesse was modeling at the Lamborghini event in Paramus New Jersey. Being herself a car enthusiast, she welcomed the opportunity to model for the luxury company. The energy and power such a car has and the kind of people it attracts only adds to Jesse’s rolodex. Only recently in April of 2025 at the Royal Albert’s Palace Jesse took away the winning of My Dream TV U.S.A.’s Miss International 2025 competition. It was a major feather in her cap and would for sure propel her to newer pastures.
“The last time a Resurreccion placed in Miss International was 65 years ago. Her name is Edita Resurreccion Vital, and she is my great aunt, who won Miss Philippines in 1960 and was the first Filipina to compete as Miss Philippines in the Miss International Beauty Pageant in Long Branch, California. I carried the same generational love in my smile on the catwalk. Experiencing an empowering female community makes me relive the love of pageantry that once captivated her decades ago. I remember her truly as a gorgeous soul, completely, and for another Resurreccion to be crowned generations later is to keep our love of diplomacy and beauty vibrant.”
Currently, Jesse is still playing tennis and is looking forward to the US Open in September. So far, Jesse has had a full plate for 2025 and is looking for new opportunities as they present themselves.
