Environmental Issues Tend To Not Touch Royalty – But England’s King Was Different: Finding Harmony: A Kings Vision Must-See Movie Review

What do King Charles III, Pope Francis, and the Dalai Lama have in common? Certainly not religion, but most definitely something else: they could all see past the illusion that humans have everything under control and all is well. Unfortunately, everything is not well, at least not with the surrounding world. As Pope Francis has said, what happens to any one group affects all the others. Humanity is interconnected and inextricably a part of the natural world.

These words were echoed by the Dalai lama, who asks people to live with kindness, compassion, and love for others – not just other people but animals, plants, trees, oceans…. One’s love should not be constrained by similarity.

And King Charles joins these two and many others to point out that our very interconnectedness and the ignorance of it will be our downfall and possibly our destruction. By destroying our connection with nature, we’re not actually making it unreal. We’re just setting the stage for a future of want. Where nothing can grow anymore because we’ve killed the soil instead of living in harmony with it.

King Charles goes even further, to a place where human communities can join together and live and work in harmony with nature. There is a planned community which the king is famous for in England. A place where everyone has a job to do, everyone is valued and loved…and it works. It has become an example worldwide to follow, and others point to it when creating their own nests of harmony to live together in.

But what is harmony? It’s difficult to really pin down, but in essence it is the acknowledgment of connection. Realizing that the natural world needs our care as much as we need its care is a start. But it goes much further than that. Living in peace and harmony with neighbors and loved ones is a important as living in harmony with nature.

So we build houses, but we plant new trees to replace those we’ve taken. Or we have chickens to produce eggs for our family, but not on a factory type farm where the animals are suffering. Instead you are their real caretakers, being as concerned for their wellbeing as for your own. And finally, regenerative agriculture. The king actually pioneered this concept, unknown to many of us in the US. He was the one trying new things, working with new technologies to bring nature into balance, even in a farm environment. Organic farming practices were also something the king has been working on for decades.

So the king of England, the Dalai lama, and Pope Francis, along with the many others who have been plodding along in this sphere trying to get the world’s attention, are kindred spirits of a sort, all walking in the same direction, just using different paths to get there. And to help humanity to see its errors before there is no going back. Before it is too late.

Before closing, I want to talk about the possibility for our planet that was exemplified by a man from India and his dream. He was inspired by the king’s community, and created his own.

He took a dry desert and dug a well. He invited in local ranchers to bring their cattle to trample upon this newly wet earth. As the earth was trampled, seeds took root. Those seeds grew trees, plants, a whole forest in the desert. That forest drew in many birds, including some that had never lived in that area, and they were brought there by themselves. This natural process of restoration can be used anywhere, even in your own backyard. If you remember our interview with Doug Tallamy, who brings this dance kind of ecosystem restoration all across the US, with maps showing its progress available on his website. It can be hard to imagine sometimes, but the planet can be restored, if we all work together, build communities, and let nature restore itself. In essence, stop the destruction and get out of the way.

As mentioned before, this is definitely a must-see documentary, especially if you are concerned that the anthropocene era will destroy the planet. You can be part of the solution instead and start making beautiful, real, and lasting change. This movie is rated five stars, and is a Must-See movie.
