NYC Aging to Host ‘Style is Ageless’ Fashion Show

Editor’s note: The Talent is Timeless talent competition is similar in concept to this event, which is a fashion runway style show, allowing older designers and models to show off their creativity and style.  We will have photos to share after the event. 

New York, NY – The fashion capital of the world is showing style has no age limit. On September 15 at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), the New York City Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) will host Style is Ageless. The show will celebrate older adults’ creativity and individuality, that also represents their unique stories.

Featuring designs from 19 older adults, dozens of unique looks will be shown that models from different generations will be wearing. The designers made the clothes to represent their individual stories and cultural heritage. They were assisted during several months of workshops that took place at older adult centers, which were organized by NYC Aging and FIT. To mark the occasion, the creator of New York Fashion Week, Fern Mallis, will be speaking.

Fashion has always been a way for individuals to express themselves, and this program has offered older adults the opportunity to show who they are, while building confidence and self-acceptance.
