Arrest Made in Connection with Shooting
A 15-year-old Linden boy has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting on Wednesday.
At approximately 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Officers responded to the 900 block of Seymour Ave on reports of a shooting. According to reports, the suspect was involved in an on-going dispute with another teenager.
The two boys allegedly agreed to meet after school, at which time the suspect produced a handgun and fired several rounds toward the other boy. Two of the rounds struck the boy’s father, a 36-year old Linden man. The man was transported to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The suspect was located at a Linden home and taken into custody later that night. Juvenile complaints were filed for second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault, along with other related charges. He was detained in the Essex County Juvenile Detention Facility pending an appearance in Family Court.
“Gun violence has no place in our city, particularly among our children,” said Police Chief David Hart. “We are very proud of the work done by responding Officers and Detectives to quickly identify and take this suspect into custody, and we will continue to aggressively prosecute anyone who jeopardizes the safety of our community with senseless acts of violence.”
These incidents remain under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Linden Police Department Juvenile Aid Bureau at (908) 474-8520.
These criminal charges are mere accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

and now the latest: These thugs are coming over the bridge and committing crimes on SI. They are going to get served. Sooner or later. This is SI, not NJ. It’s not going to end well for the thugs. Everyone here is armed, legally or otherwise. Bad plan…it may seem easy pickings, but wait until someone stands up. The trend will quickly end.
