Audre Lorde Project To Hold Healing Event On Community Care Day, This Sunday December 18th
Join us this Sunday, December 18 for Community Care Day, a space for LGBTSTGNC People of Color to practice and receive healing together. Community Care Day is lovingly organized by ALP’s 3rd Space Members each year in order to uplift the ancestral, traditional, and Indigenous healing practices that have kept our communities thriving and resilient, while shifting us away from the isolation and disposability that medical institutions and capitalism impose on us.
Healing – true, deep, consistent healing – is crucial to the sustainability of our movements and the new liberated world we are trying to build together. Every day, our people are fighting for survival in society that steals our agency and subjects us to ongoing trauma. Community Care Day is a space of self-determination for us to define healing for ourselves, embrace our interconnectedness and dream of new ways of sustainably caring for ourselves & our communities. It is a chance to build and innovate together, and remember that we are not in this struggle alone!
This Sunday from 12-4 PM, we will have 2 healer-led workshops as well as open healing time with the opportunity to participate in free, individual healing sessions, including reiki, massage, and more.
There will be plenty of food & snacks (which can be taken home or eaten in a heated outdoor area, as we are asking everyone to remain masked while indoors.)
Please note: there has been a change in venue since the event was initially announced, and we will now be gathering at Evolve With Us Wellness located at 115 Ralph Ave in Brooklyn.
Please visit alp.org/CCD-2022 to register and learn more about the event, and email [email protected] with any questions.
