BP Fossella to Unveil Animal Educational Workshop for 4th Graders, Partnered with the Animal Care Centers, in Honor of 9 Year Old Who Died Saving His Pets
Staten Island, NY – On January 31st at 9am, at P.S. 36, Borough President Vito J. Fossella will unveil a new educational workshop for 4th graders, called Pet Talk, which emphasizes fostering healthy relationships with our pets and the importance of pet adoption.
This educational workshop has been created for the 4th grade Island-wide, in honor of Tommy Monahan, in conjunction with the Animal Care Centers. An educator from the Animal Care Centers will go into 4th grade classrooms to give the interactive presentation that stresses the importance of pet adoptions and the emotional connection with our pets.
Tommy Monahan was 9 years old when he lost his life in a house fire while trying to rescue his pets. His love for animals and passion for helping them continues to inspire people of all ages.
The event will be attended by: Borough President Vito J. Fossella; The family of Tommy Monahan; Katherine E. Reeves, Community Kids Coordinator of Animal Care Centers of NYC; Barbara Bellafatto, P.S. 36 Principal
