NYC Condos: From minimalist 235 sq. ft. to nearly 3 basketball courts in size, plus Staten Island condos: largest in NYC

Condos make up a small fraction of all NYC apartments, but are notable for their larger size, averaging 921 square feet compared to the 600-square-foot median of rental apartments. We wanted to find out where the smallest and the largest condos are, so we examined condo sizes across NYC, ranking them by median square footage.  

Here’s what we found out: 

  • The Bronx has the smallest borough-level median condo size at 769 sq. ft. 
  • Staten Island features the largest median condo size of the five boroughs at 1,047 square feet, along with the lowest median sale price for condos at $374,000 
  • South Astoria has the smallest median condo size, at 631/sq. ft., in the city, while Hudson Yards has the largest at 2,045/sq. ft. 
  • At $8.12 million, Manhattan’s Central Park South leads as the most expensive neighborhood for NYC condos by a significant margin  
  • The Bronx claims most affordable neighborhood for condos with Parkchester’s $195,000 median sale price
