National Grid Employees Team Up with Staten Island Chamber of Commerce to Beautify Downtown Bay Street Commerce Corridor

Annual Day of Service brings 20 volunteers to Stapleton, Tompkinsville, and St. George BID

Editor’s note: National Grid performed this cleanup as their day of service event, helping beautify the downtown St. George area.  Recently, the borough president started a borough-wide clean-up effort near the beginning of the summer, to make the island a more beautiful place to live. 

STATEN ISLAND – On Monday, September 21, National Grid employees will team up with the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce to clean up the Bay Street corridor as part of the company’s annual Staten Island Day of Service. The volunteer effort will refresh the borough’s business district, giving residents the clean and welcoming public spaces they deserve. Small businesses along Bay Street have faced ongoing challenges from years of economic disruption, and a cleaner, more inviting corridor directly supports foot traffic and customer confidence. The New York City Department of Sanitation will donate supplies and be on the ground to pick up the collected garbage following the day of service.

National Grid’s effort is part of a global series of volunteer events across the company’s service territories and reflects the broader company’s commitment to helping local business districts thrive.
