Staten Island’s Great Kills Area: New ShopRite, State-Of-The-Art Supermarket, Opens In Evergreen Plaza This Past Weekend
Editor’s note: In previous years as we head into the cooler seasons, companies and individuals make extra donations to local charities to help those less fortunate to share in the festive time. This year the need is likely to be greater than ever due to the many planned and executed cuts to food bank and soup kitchen networks around the country, including in New York. ShopRite also allowed the local Girl Scouts who sold the most cookies on Staten Island to put their sales table outside the front doors, where many happy customers bought some of the popular cookies.
ShopRite recently announced its newest state-of-the-art supermarket will open on Sunday, September 14 in the Evergreen Plaza at 100 Greaves Lane, Staten Island, NY.
The grand opening celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony which took place at 9:00 a.m.
The 62,000-square-foot ShopRite of Evergreen Plaza features expanded services, chef prepared meals to go, a wide variety of fresh foods, and multiple departments including a fresh bake shop, butcher-staffed meat counter, and more.

ShopRite Grand Opening Set for September 14 in Great Kills
Mannix Family Markets Celebrates Its Fourth Staten Island Location with a Modern, Full-Service Store in Evergreen Plaza
Staten Island, NY – ShopRite announced that its newest state-of-the-art supermarket opened Sunday, September 14, in Evergreen Plaza at 100 Greaves Lane, Staten Island, NY, with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m.
Owned and operated by Mannix Family Markets, the new ShopRite of Evergreen Plaza marks the Mannix family’s fourth supermarket in the borough and reinforces their strong commitment to serving Staten Islanders with ShopRite quality and value. The store team will join local leaders to cut the ribbon on the 62,000-square-foot, full-service supermarket that offers a wide variety of fresh groceries, chef-prepared foods, specialty and premium items, and top quality store and national brands.
The new ShopRite will stock over 40,000 products and offer nearly 3,000 sale items each week, while also offering a wide gluten-free and organic selection, all at ShopRite’s everyday low prices.
Store departments will include a Fresh Bake Shop featuring custom specialty cakes and made-from-scratch sweets and breads; Floral Shop with bouquets arranged daily; Meat Department staffed by experienced butchers offering restaurant quality cuts of meat at supermarket prices; Seafood Department with daily-catch deliveries, and a Produce Department stocked with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and organic and locally grown produce. ShopRite’s online shopping service, Order.Pickup.Deliver., will also be available at the new location as will ShopRite’s premium store brands, Bowl & Basket, Wholesome Pantry, and Paperbird.

In addition to the new store in Great Kills, Mannix Family Markets operates ShopRite stores in Graniteville, New Dorp, and Charleston.
The newest ShopRite will employ approximately 300 associates, and hiring continues to take place for positions at the store. The convenient shopping format also incorporates the latest energy-saving and sustainable technologies in refrigeration and lighting, including LED lighting and environmentally friendly refrigerant systems.
The Mannix family believes in giving back to the communities where their stores operate and their retail teams live and work. Mannix Family Markets supports food pantries year-round across Staten Island and makes a special annual Thanksgiving gift card donation to dozens of local organizations. Mannix Family Markets also sponsors the historic St. George Theater, Grace Foundation of Staten Island, Richmond University Medical Center, the Staten Island Children’s Museum and Staten Island Sunrise Day Camp.
