Sport & Fitness Spotlight: Nicole Comito
Spotlight: Nicole Comito
Hello readers,
I hope that everyone is having a safe and enjoyable summer.
There’s a wonderful Indian proverb, “Blessed are those who plant trees under whose shade they will never sit.” What the aforementioned proverb teaches is that honorable people need to think of the children growing up and the future that we will leave for them, instead of just selfishly focusing on themselves and their rapidly fleeting present.
As someone who has guided and trained young people in a variety of athletics and martial arts, I pride myself on helping the next generation become their strongest and most balanced selves—hence, creating a wonderful ripple/domino/butterfly effect for the perpetual upcoming generations.
My current gym, Chelsea Piers Fitness, has amazing programs in their Field Houses helping children learn and master everything from gymnastics to swimming to soccer and baseball and football.
One of my colleagues and friends, Nicole Comito, is a seasoned and beloved gymnastics instructor for kids. Nicole was one of the first new friends that I had come across at Chelsea Piers; I saw her nonchalantly doing a handstand in the center of my gym and knew that she was one of the really good ones! Her positive energy and pure love for her incredibly beneficial craft is clear as day—she loves what she does and consistently upgrades her art!
It is so important to take pride in whatever it is that you do, especially if it involves helping those who need all ofthe expert guidance that they can get—to grow into the absolute best versions of themselves.

Thank you, Nicole, for all that you do and for sharing with us some words of wisdom…
1) Please share with us how you got into gymnastics…
My parents started putting me in gymnastics and dance classes at 3 years old, and from there I started competing competitively when I was old enough.
2) What makes your training unique and effective?
I like to utilize different disciplines into my training, whether it is strength training, contortion, hand balancing or partner acrobatics. Sometimes I like to combine them and incorporate creative movement and flows into my practice to keep the creative juices flowing.
3) What are some of your favorite gymnastics exercises to do with the kids?
Tumbling lines are my favorite because it gets the heart rate up; it introduces many different total body skills, and refines their shapes all at the same time.
4) What are your personal fitness goals?
I would love to perform a creative piece again one day, whether it is a solo piece or a partner acro piece. I would love to be back on a stage.
5)Please share with us an inspirational quote that has inspired you?
“Peace begins with a smile.” ~Mother Theresa
Thank you Nicole and thank you readers; wishing everyone health and happiness,
